My Support

My definition of support is  someone or something that allows you to be you, helps in ant situation and offers honest advice.
My first support during  any day is God. I pray to God every morning to help me make it through the day. Another support of my day is my family. My husband and children support me at everything I do.  They were very supportive when I made the decision to go back to get my Masters.  In any teachers job my students give me support. Their support come from their amazing ability to be honest and to be themselves. Another daily support comes from my colleages, especially my co-teacher. Their support allows  me to be a better teacher.  We are cosntantly talking about new ideas and ways certain children learn.  The challenge I would like to discuss is  when I have a  student that has a behavioral issue and I have tried everything I can to help this child improve the behavior. The support that God gives me is the  reensurance that everything is going to be fine. The support I get from my colleages is new ideas and techniques that they have tried in their room for similar behavior.  The support that I would get from my students would be the love and friendship that they offer to the student.  Thier honestly and the way they want to be friends with everyone is amazing. The support from my family would be that I can handle any problem or task.
Without the support of this group I know I could not make it through the day. I do not think I would be where I am today if I did not have this support team.  I feel that everyone needs to have a great support system.

  1. I love your definition of support. God is the first person who I say thank you to, because he is the reason why I live. Anyone who believes in you and trusts your judgments on any situation is lucky to have you.

  2. Your definition of support is beautiful. Those who support us do allow us to be who we are and support what we want to become. I feel that that was such an articulate way of putting it.

Everyone does need a great support system, Joy, and I'm glad that you have one that works for you. Great post!

  3. I love your definition as well. I always make sure to pray to God for all he has given me and for help with problems I have. I think it is great that you have such a strong support system with your colleagues. I have not been able to find work in the teaching field, but I hope that someday when I do find work that I will be as lucky as you are. I do have the love and support of my husband and my family. I am hoping to someday pass on my wisdom to my own children.

  4. Hi Joy,
I really enjoyed reading your post. My family too was very supportive of me going back to get my Master's. My husband was so supportive that he too decided to work on his as well. We help to support each other through this journey. I think as educators we are always looking for new ideas on how to approach behavior issues in the classroom. I know my teachers wish that there was any easy go to manual when they have run out of ideas. Do you have any techniques that seem to work most of the time?

  5. Joy,
I really enjoyed reading your definition of support. You reminded me of a support that I didn't include in my own blog which is the support of my colleagues.

  6. I like how you added that your children in your class give you support. They are the reason that we come to work everyday and do what we love. They are an excellent support system.
