Research Subtopic

The subtopic I chose was Can play enhance a child's ability to learn the content standards within the early childhood classroom. I chose this subtopic because next year I will teach Kindergarten and I am a handson teacher and believe that students need to move and use the social skills to learn instead of sitting and only doing worksheets.
I have not had much expereience with research. When I attended Brewton Parker College and was doing my student teaching I had to do an action research on the effects of a pre-test and post test. However I have never had to come up with research information on my own beside a few for science paper. T

Eventhough we have only been in class for two weeks, I have learned alot. The major things I beleieve I have learned would be to make sure that my information is current, unbias and written by an author who is connected to to the issue .
The advice I would give to my classmates would be to stay on top of assignments and to help each other when we can. I believe that feed back is a great asset to any class. Good Luck.

  1. I agree with once again, giving positive feedback and staying on top of the assignment should be our number one priority. Viewing your subtopic, I would say yes as long as you tie the lessons to the standards.

  2. Hello Joy,

You chose a very interesting subtopic about can play. Our interests are similar because my subtopic is about How play can help children get their creativity and imaganation in the early childhood classroom. Positive feedback is a great way to learn and work together to enhance our research skills.

  3. I love your topic. I think it is important for people to know that kindergarten and Preschool is play time as well as learning time. I often hear people say why should I pay for my kids to attend Preschool to play when they can play at home for free. Playing and Creativity are great skills for young children to have.

I also have not done a lot of research papers myself. I had done one in my undergraduate career, but it was a group assignment and it was my responsibility to type up the paper and write out the Introduction and Conclusion.

If I come accoss any research infomation on your topic I will pass it along.
