Connections

For this assignment, I called on some people who I work with in the Worth County School System. The director of our pre-k  has a friend who teaches in Japan. Then our  school improvement  person has a friend who pastors a church in England and he talked to some friends whose wives were teachers.  Mrs. Sanders teaches  in Japan on the base there. Mrs. Davison and Mrs. Benjamin both teach in England.  Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. Benjamin both teach special needs and Mrs. Davison is a general ed teacher. I am looking forward to corresponding with these teachers. Mrs. Sanders sent me some pictures of Japan and it is beautiful.
I am waiting for a reply from Mrs. Davison and Mrs. Benjamin.
I decided to  view the Pre[k] now website. http://www.preknow.org/.  I teach pre-k so I thought this would be a great resoure for this class as well as for me.  I read an article that was posted on the site and I was amazed that other pre-k teachers in other states are going through the same thing as I am here in Georgia with pre-k. Our Governor is looking into cutting our pre-k day.  What will be next?

  1. I have a cousin who works in Korea teaching English and she loves it. She teaches English 1st grade students. I think it is great that you were able to get some contacts through your job. I also want to teach Special Education.

  2. I heard about the cutting the day in half for teachers.I think its sad for the teacher as well as the students, teaching academics in a half seems like its going to be hard. How will you adapt to this change?

  3. I'm so glad you were able to get contacts from other professionals from your colleagues. I hope you are successful in connecting with the other two teachers as well. It will be interesting to see what information and insights you will learn from them.

  4. It would be awesome if you can get in touch with all three people.I would love to hear their perspective since they are in different countries. I live in North Carolina and i just found out they are trying to cut our Pre-K programs also because of funding. I am not happy about this. The Pre-K program benefits so many children.

  5. Unfortunately, school funding is taking a beating all over the country, and contrary to the research presented in articles like those we read this week , the cuts start with our youngest, most vulnerable population. I hope you have written a letter to your governor that the future of his state is in the hands of preschoolers. Good luck!
